With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, the College of Law held an Intercultural Workshop on September 23, 2026, to introduce exchange students to Taiwanese festival traditions and promote interaction among exchange students and local students. Centered on the Mid-Autumn Festival, the workshop featured an introduction to the festival, a Chinese calligraphy activity, and a pomelo-peeling competition, giving students an opportunity to get to know each other in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere while experiencing Taiwanese cultural traditions.
Exchange students from Singapore, Germany, and Denmark took part in the workshop. The event began with a video introducing the origins of the Mid-Autumn Festival and its traditional customs. Students then tried their hand at Chinese calligraphy, writing Chinese characters associated with the festival and traditional well-wishes. For some, it was their first experience with Chinese calligraphy, while others were already familiar with it. Everyone enthusiastically took part, learning from one another and creating calligraphy works in their own styles. The workshop continued with a pomelo-peeling competition, where students raced to peel pomelos and later enjoyed pomelos and mooncakes together. The activity offered a fun and engaging way to experience some of Taiwan’s Mid-Autumn Festival traditions and added to the lively atmosphere of the workshop.
Through traditional festival activities and hands-on cultural experiences, the workshop aimed not only to help exchange students learn more about Taiwanese culture, but also to let them experience the warm and welcoming learning environment of the College of Law. By participating in the activities together, students from different countries and cultural backgrounds shared their cultures and experiences, built closer connections, and created lasting memories of celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival together.
